Day 19

Rimlighting

This little orc guy is a  lead figure that I used to paint. Well, obviously I didn't just paint him, probably got a few hundred of them in various states of painting . He is only about 2 inches high and blatantly has a chip on his shoulder...

  1. Great job. The lighting here and the creature's expression creates a scary atmosphere.

  2. Great lighting and I love that the lighting is so very appropriate to the subject. Like he's coming to get me in the face of an extremely big lit-up train!

  3. Very contrasty lighting fits well with your angry creature! I find the face a tiny bit dark. I would probably do a dupe layer, screen, mask it out completely and softly bring back in some light with white on a soft brush just on the face, then pull down the opacity on the screening so it's not stark. Still, very cool shot.

  4. Wow, eury. I would never think of that. I'm not even sure I know what you just said. I'll add it to my tip sheet.

Nice rim lighting. I can't seem to get it, so I'm very in awe of those of you who have been successful. :)

  7. So it is possible to rimlight a small object. Now I have no excuse not to try it with my clothes peg.
