Day 3 - Self Portrait

Ok, a slight miscalculation here. I'm the only one at home at the moment - Mrs T is at work and the kids are at various places, so I never intended to do a self portrait so early in the 30dc. I don't like self portraits as it doesn't feel like you are taking the shot and there's a lot of shootin' n adjustin' n reshootin involved, so as a result I only took about 20 shots to get this one

PS I'm down to just 2 lights at the moment after my SB600 packed up. I've found and ordered the inductor it needs (it's a common fault when they get a slight bang - or rather a poor design) so will have to make do for now

  1. I totally agree on the selfportrait fuss but you pulled off a very classic shot. I love the brushed texture in your background. It suits the technical person I think you are.

  2. I also hate doing self portraits mainly because it's so hard to find a good one but you did well, you should be happy with it.

  3. Gorgeous shot and great lighting, and although your background looks great, I think the pale patch would be better off behind you to frame your head, rather than on the edge of your frame. You gotta look into your camera lens, dude!

  4. Hey, for such a funny guy you sure look awfully serious. LOL! Delicate and consistent lighting in all your shots. --DragonTat7

  6. After seeing those goofy pics of you, it is great to see the real you. Is it symbolic that you look like a great viking?

  7. Be sure to thank your wife for her genetic contribution to your son - sorry cheap joke.

Nicely done for a self-portrait shot while 'blind.'
