Day 15

Half way through! Never thought I'd last this long to be honest
The Universe! (well, maybe not all of it)
We had a clear-ish sky last night (don't worry it was after midnight, so it's todays photo :D)
It was an educated guess about the rotation point, but at a cost to the composition (my neighbours might have wondered what the hell I was doing at 12.30am standing in their garden) It was a 15min-ish exposure (my battery wouldn't have lasted for the processing if I'd done it any longer)

  1. Neat! How did you guess the rotation point? Hang in there. It's half over. You start going on autopilot from this point on, if memory serves from my prior two challenges! Or, maybe I'm just forgetting the hard times. ;)

  2. This is very cool. I've always wanted to try something like this but never knew exactly how to do it. How do you figure out (or guesstimate) the rotation point?

Also, congrats on getting half way through the month. :-)

  3. It was a guesstimate! I took a shorter exposure earlier and worked out roughly (very) where the rotation point was. I was very lucky to hit it spot on! Shame there was some passing cloud to fog the exposure up slightly

  6. I saw this one from work on my dark monitor...and couldn't figure it out. Isn't it interesting how the stars rotate...you would never guess we are spinning so fast.

  9. Congrats on getting halfway through (and beyond!). I can't wait to try one of these shots, as soon as I get a camera that will do the indefinite open shutter.

  10. I hadn't thought about the intricacies of rotation points, I learn lots of new things during the challenges.

Good thing you knew about it and got it right!
